MANKAMANA TEMPLE: A pilgrimage destination
Mankamana temple is the famous Hindu pilgrimage destination that lies in the Gorkha district of Nepal. The river valley of Trishuli in the south, Marsayangdi in the west and the Annapurna, Mansalu range in the north can be seen from the temple which adds perfect scenic to the temple.
Mankamana is derived from two words that are Mana means heart and kamana mean wishes. If devotee worship in Mankamana goddess Durga Bhawani an incarnation of goddess Parvati grants the wishes of the devotee.
Manakamana darshan is most popular during Dashain (Sept-Oct) and Nag Panchami (July –August).
If anyone wants to visit mankamana temple from Kathmandu the reserve vehicles can be available from everywhere (Kotheswor, Kalanki, Ratna Park, Chabahil) if anybody wants to visit personally then he or she can catch the vehicle from Kalanki. It takes approx 3 hours from Kalanki to reach Kulintar. The fare is about Nrs 300 - 350. After reaching Kulintar you need to enter from the gateway of Mankamana temple. You reach to the bank of Trishuli river, you will have two choices there either you can opt for Cable car or you can catch the vehicle to reach in Mankamana temple. In cable car the cost is Nrs. 640 (to and for) and in the vehicle it is Nrs. 200 drop only.
After reaching the temple you can book a hotel here and enjoy the trip. The hotel can be booked in Nrs. 1500 - 3000. Orange is the sweetest thing you can have here. The food per plate is cheap veg rice starts from
Nrs. 200 and mutton rice from Nrs. 300 but sekuwa, sikuti, fish, mutton per plate is quite costly I.e Nrs. 300 per plate.
