Nepal is playing cricket for a long time. The nation was awarded Twenty20 International (T20I) status by the ICC in June 2014 until the 2015 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier. On 15 March 2018, Nepal gained One Day International (ODI) status for the first time (and regained Twenty20 International status), after winning the first playoff match in the 2018 Cricket World Cup Qualifier.



Nepal played first ODI against Netherland under the captainship of Paras Khadka. The country came to limelight in Bangladesh during ICC t20 qualifier where they played the higher level cricket.

It's maybe the influence of Asian Cricketing nation the popularity of the game in the nation is increasing day by day and also it lifted the game to some extent. Over the recent year, many t20 tournaments were played in the nation like Pokhara Premier League, Dhanghadi Premier League, Everest Premier League, and all tournaments were successful and interesting.

Champion NOVAK DJOKOVIC won seventh AUSTRALIAN open title by defeating clay court master Rafal Nadal. The Serbian world number one dominated the Spanish second seed Rafa to win his 15th grand slam.
